So, I did something crazy. Seriously crazy. Something totally out of character – well, at least for the last few years. I, wait for it, started working out. I know the world is no longer spinning on its axis.
I realized that eating less and more healthy was not enough. In theory, I was going to start exercising at the beginning of the year. When we were half way through February and I hadn’t even joined the gym yet, the writing was on the wall. Me going to the gym consistently is unlikely. Then, I realized that I need to have it scheduled. And, more than that, exercise had to be fun.
I started looking at different classes and even a soccer league. Yep, I found something that worked (well, as much as it can for a working mother of two) schedule-wise and is fun. The result? Well, I am actually exercising. And, three year old noticed that I am making it a priority and that it is important. As much as I really want to fit into some of my pre-pregnancy clothes, I want my girls to want to make healthy choices. I want them to be very active, to crave healthy food, to be good example for their kids.
What are some good after workout treats?
Crispy apple sliced and dipped in peanut butter. Not Jiffy PB, something fresh tasting. Yes, I buy the kind of peanut butter that has to be stored in the fridge. Why? Flavor. And, I am a fan of things that will go bad. It just doesn’t seem natural to have food that will last forever.
Speaking of peanut butter, a peanut butter, banana, honey sandwich on whole grain bread rocks.
I like something basic, not heavy but flavorful, maybe a little sweet.
Time will only tell if making exercise fun will keep me engaged and exercising.
